PRESS RELEASE

10 x top!

'Diversity enriches organizations. Equality between men and women is not the issue, the added value is all in the complementary differences.’ Thus spoke Alexander Rinnooy Kan, chairman of the SER. On Thursday 24 September he spoke at the book presentation of 10 x top! ‘It is nothing short of an embarrassment that the Netherlands are all the way at the bottom of the list in terms of women in high positions. This is something we should all work on together.’ He was also proud to announce that the SER had decided to sign the Charter Talent to the Top.

Speaker Noëlle Haitsma of the union De Unie also promoted the labour participation of women. ‘We are looking at ambition, recognition and choices. Women should be encouraged and supported in their search for a personal fulfilment of their career.’

Bianca Tetteroo, CFO at Syntrus Achmea, shared her personal story about serendipity, opportunities and deliberate choices. ‘There comes a time when you have to speak up. Show yourself and tell us what you want. This will speed up things considerably.’

Role model Sybilla Dekker, chairwoman of the Taskforce Talent to the Top, was very clear about it in her speech at the presentation. ‘This book enhances the visibility of women in high positions. This will affect all women. We still have a long way to go but we are getting there, step by step, we are getting there.’

10 x top!
Another book about the lack of women in high positions…

No! A book about women in high positions. 10 motivating and inspiring interviews.

Stories of women who have gone their own way, with humour and determination, believing in opportunities and strength. 10 x Top gives us 10 high performing women, 10 stories, 10 passions, 10 tips and 10 recommendations for women and organizations.

The book revolves around the outcomes of a Higher & Company research among 1500 highly educated working women.

Author Inca van Uuden (managing partner Higher & Company) ponders on the subject of diversity from different perspectives. To illustrate matters she uses her own personal story. She sheds a light on Dutch society, the corporate sector, the culture, the realization, the upbringing and first and foremost, the actual woman. Does she happily tag along or does she seize the opportunities laid out for her?

And if not, why not? What is keeping her?

Inca van Uuden is clear: ‘Women in high positions, we shouldn’t need to discuss this in 2009. With the passion, the will to work and the mobilization of potential supporting bodies, any woman is able to go the extra mile.

High performing women make high performing organizations!
So join!’
